SafetyCall’s President, Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, Rick Kingston, was recently awarded the 2024 Charles E. Allderdice Jr. Annual Memorial Award. The award, presented annually by the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA), honors those in the household and commercial products industry who’ve made significant contributions to the betterment of the industry and association over their career.
In his acceptance speech, Rick recognized those from recognized those from SafetyCall and HCPA for the opportunity to contribute by saying, “…I think about all of my partners and staff at SafetyCall that have really indulged me and given me the latitude to spend time and work with the industry on a lot of the issues we face…I’d just like to thank Steve and all the members at HCPA. I can’t think of a better organization that’s out there that’s representing its members.”
Rick has been involved with HCPA (formerly the Consumer Specialty Products Association, CSPA) since 1989, contributing his knowledge and expertise to product safety issues affecting member companies, including developing industry’s approach to inhalant abuse prevention and product labeling. He has also provided product stewardship contributions including the Product Care Initiative educational series, holding a board position on the Poison Prevention Non-Profit Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE), and collaborating with HCPA’s sister association, the Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association (CCSPA), to represent industry’s perspective to the Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Health Canada.
